Più giovane campione Triple Crown della storia e miglior regno degli ultimi anni, sta riportando la storica cintura al prestigio che le compete. Grandissime difese titolate e un matchone nel Carnival contro Kengo Mashimo per lui. Ace della rinascita.

Grande run titolata in All Japan e sempre potenti in casa BJW.

Il miglior match della serie, la sintesi del tutto. La conclusione di quella che è LA rivalità degli anni duemiladieci del puroresu. L'elettricità nell'aria al suono della campanella e nei primi secondi del match era palpabile, questo era un match storico e lo si percepiva chiaramente da subito. Psicologia perfetta, gestione del timing marchio di fabbrica di Hiroshi eccezionale, scambi tutti puliti e fluidi, narrazzione impeccabile e finale di near falls incredibile e al cardiopalma.

Grande badasseria da campione heel.

Rookie of the year: Chihiro Hashimoto (Sendai Girls)
Diventarà la migliore al mondo. La Satomura non la pusha per caso.

Best female: Io Shirai
La Ace della Stardom quest'anno è tornata nel main event a combattere per la Red Belt, spot che lo scorso anno era stato affidato a Kairi Hojo. Match strepitosi quelli per la cintura massima Stardom. Asso che si porta sulle spalle la sue federazione in un momento in cui quest'ultima necessità di un ricambio generazionale.

Best in-ring performer: Daisuke Sekimoto
Una macchina come al solito. Menzione oltre ai soliti ad Isami Kodaka, che ha portato avanti un grande regno da campione in DDT a inizio anno e si è sempre tenuto su buoni livelli tra BJW e Basara..

Match of the year: Okada vs Tanahashi di WK. Workrate, storytelling, cornice. Passaggio di consegne più degno non poteva esserci per Hiroshi.

Rookie of the year: Jeff Cobb/Matanza. Non sarà un debuttante assoluto, ma del periodo pre Lucha Underground non ho trovato granchè (e mi pare di capire che non ci sia comunque tantissimo)

Best female: Asuka. Anche questo è un voto da fanboy visto che il meglio lo deve ancora mostrare, sia come performance (anche se ottenere prestazioni decenti dalla Brooke e dalla Jax è già tantissimo), sia lato entertainment (ma qui dipende più dalla barriera linguistica). Cito anche Io Shirai (magari avessero dato a lei il ruolo di Black Lotus).
Best in-ring performer: AJ Styles.
Best on mic: Samoa Joe, l'ho sempre ritenuto molto sottovalutato sotto questo aspetto.
Best gimmick: Broken Matt Hardy. Molto più di una gimmick. Tanto di cappello per essere riuscito a reinventarsi per l'ennesima volta.
Most improved wrestler of the year: Charlotte Flair.
PPV / iPPV / Special Event of the year: Takeover Toronto. L'ho preferito di pochissimo a WK e anche qui specifico che si tratta di un voto basato su fattori non oggettivi.

Worst main event: Orton vs Wyatt. C'è re mida e re merda. Tutto quello che tocca Wyatt diventa merda.
Worst PPV / iPPV / Special Event: Bound for glory. Ormai questo è un voto fisso purtroppo.

Wrestler of the year: AJ Styles. Il suo arrivo in WWE e il modo in cui è stata riconosciuta la sua grandezza alla luce di quella che è stata la sua carriera ha pochi eguali nella storia recente della federazione dei Meek Mahans. Per me è il suo anno.
Tag Team of the year: Cesaro&Sheamus. Scelta un po' ottimistica, questa, ma spero che questo tag possa rappresentare il vero trampolino di lancio per il fu Castagnoli. La storyline di costruzione a me è piaciuta molto, e i primi passi sono stati gestiti bene. Un voto un po' sulla fiducia, me ne rendo conto.
Match of the year: John Cena vs AJ Styles, Summerslam. Vado un po' sulla fiducia, perché non ricordo tanti altri grandi match quest'anno oltre questo, ma magari ne dimentico qualcuno.

Best on mic: vado con The Miz, che quest'anno ha fatto quei due passi in avanti che gli servivano per essere un legittimo uppercarder.
Best gimmick: Broken Matt Hardy Non sono mai riuscito a sopportarlo, l'ho sempre trovato la personificazione del nulla, e nel 2016 è riuscito a stupirmi mettendo in piedi questo carrozzone da circo che è il Broken Universe. Chapeau, solo un grande AJ Styles è riuscito a soffiargli il mio WOTY.

Worst tag team: i Carliti, là, come si chiamano, quelli che vendono pacchetti viaggio per i Caraibi.

Worst main event: Goldberg vs Lesnar (menzione d'onore per Wrestlemania)
Worst PPV / iPPV / Special Event: facendo una media tra quanto mandato in onda e quante sono, ogni anno, le aspettative, dico Wrestlemania 32.
Worst feud: Undertaker vs Shane McMahon, che tra build up e sviluppi successivi è stato davvero una bella merda.

Worst turn: Seth Rollins. Avrebbe meritato di meglio.

Overrated wrestler of the year: Roman Reigns, con Braun Strowman e Baron Corbin (di cui io non riesco a vedere i famosi miglioramenti) sugli scudi.

Raga' Corbin non é un Rookie, inizia la sua carriera nel 2012, si può fare uno strappo e considerarlo rookie nel 2014 (dove debutta come Lone Wolf dopo che prima aveva fatto perlopiù da jobber), ma assolutamente non nel 2016, dove tutt'al più si può considerare Newcomer (nel Main Roster, almeno).

Di Matanza Cueto io non so un cazzo, ma Cagematch me lo segna come in attività dal 2009.
Mi appello a qualche tuttologo se si considera Rookie o meno in base a quanto fatto pre LU.

Anche Ellsworth che vedo aver preso qualche voto in realtà mi dicono lotti dal 2002.

C'é da dire che non ho ancora contato tutti i voti, ma come Rookie dell'anno nelle prime due pagine hanno preso punti Mandy Rose (da me che ne sono innamorato platonicamente ) e il figlio di Matt Hardy.

Toh, gli Authors of Pain sarebbero eleggibili, con un piccolo strappo alle regole (debutto effettivo nel 2015, non 16). Però fanno cagare e mi rifiuto di votarli in alcunché tranne peggior Tag dell'anno o atleti sopravvalutati dell'anno.
